I spent over 12 hours lovingly restoring this unit.
I cleaned off the almost 90 years of dirt and grime from the wood getting it down to bare wood. I then applied several layers Tried & True Original natural hard wax oil so it has a natural and beautiful look to the wood. Afterwards I hand rubbed to bring out a warn natural lustre to the finish.
The face was dirty and scratched. I gently cleaned of the heavy dirt and applied an 11 step process of high end automotive polishes ending up with very fine polish to remove the scratches and bring out the beautiful black and gold features on the unit.
I also finely polished the glass meter to remove much of the dirt and haze from it as well.
The unit was given over to the local antique radio club for them to go through it and update/adjust anything that was needed. All button, knobs and switches were cleaned and lubricated and operate smoothly.
And it works beautiful! As you can see I also have the tube data available with it.
Note: the voltage knob sometimes requires a little wiggling to get full contact on the wider arm underneath. It works great - just sometimes needs a little nudge.
